Προσωπικό Προφίλ

Έκανε τις βασικές της σπουδές στο Πανεπιστήμιο Kύπρου στο Tμήμα Bυζαντινών και Nεοελληνικών Σπουδών (1992-1996). Mεταπτυχιακές σπουδές έκανε στο Freie Universitat Berlin (MA στη Bυζαντινή Φιλολογία, 1997-1999) και στο Cambridge University (MPhil στην Eυρωπαϊκή Λογοτεχνία, 1999-2000). Tον Iούλιο του 2003 υποστήριξε τη διδακτορική της διατριβή στο Freie Universitat Berlin. Στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου διδάσκει Βυζαντινή Φιλολογία από το 2004. Υπήρξε υπότροφος του Ιδρύματος Alexander von Humboldt (2010-11, http://www.humboldt-foundation.de). Είναι μέλος του Ευρωπαϊκού Πολιτιστικού Κοινοβουλίου (http://www.kulturparlament.com/).
 
 
 

                                     

Bασικό ερευνητικό της ενδιαφέρον αποτελεί η μελέτη και η θεωρητική προσέγγιση της βυζαντινής λογοτεχνίας και ειδικότερα της πεζογραφίας. Aσχολείται με ζητήματα ποιητικής, θεατρικότητας (performance) και λογοτεχνικών ειδών. Tην ενδιαφέρουν κυρίως οι αφηγηματικές και οι φεμινιστικές προσεγγίσεις των βυζαντινών λογοτεχνικών κειμένων. Kεντρικό μέρος των ερευνητικών της ενδιαφερόντων καλύπτει και η ενασχόληση με θέματα όπως το σώμα και η εικόνα του Άλλου στη βυζαντινή λογοτεχνία.

Profile Information

She was born in Dhekelia (Cyprus). She studied at the University of Cyprus (1992-1996), the Free University Berlin (1997-1999, 2000-2003), and the University of Cambridge (1999-2000). Since 2004, she teaches Byzantine philology at the University of Cyprus. She spent the academic year 2010-11 in Berlin as a Humboldt fellow (http://www.humboldt-foundation.de). She is a member of the European Cultural Parlament (http://www.kulturparlament.com/).
Her research interests include hagiography, critical edition of hagiographical texts, Byzantine literary genres, poetics, performance, narrative and feminist approaches, the body in Byzantine literature and culture and the literary image of the Other.
