Προσωπικό Προφίλ

Ο Λούκας Περικλέους είναι εκπαιδευτικός Δημοτικής Εκπαίδευσης ενω επισης εκτελεί χρέη Ειδικού Επιστήμονα για την Ιστορική Παιδεία στο Τμήμα Επιστημών της Αγωγής του ΠΚ. Είναι κάτοχος πρώτου πτυχίου στις Επιστήμες της Αγωγής (Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου) και μεταπτυχιακού τίτλου στην Ιστορική Παιδεία (University of London). Είναι υποψήφιος διδάκτορας της Ιστορικής Παιδείας στο UCL Institute of Education, University College London. Στο παρελθόν έχει εργαστεί στην Κυπριακή Εκπαιδευτική Αποστολή της Μεγάλης Βρετανίας, στο Γραφείο Αναλυτικών Προγραμμάτων του Υπουργείου Παιδείας και Πολιτισμού και ως μέλος του Ειδικού Εκπαιδευτικού Προσωπικού του Τμήματος Επιστημών της Αγωγής του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου. Έχει επίσης διδάξει το μάθημα της Διδακτικής της Ιστορίας στο Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου. Διετέλεσε επιστημονικός συνεργάτης για  θέματα Ιστορικής Παιδείας στη διαδικασία Διαμόρφωσης την Νέων Αναλυτικών Προγραμμάτων τόσο στη Δημοτική όσο και στη Μέση Εκπαίδευση ενώ παρείχε επίσης συμβουλευτικό έργο σε σχέση με την επιμόρφωση εκπαιδευτικών αλλά και τον σχεδιασμό και αξιολόγηση του εκπαιδευτικού υλικού που αναπτύσσεται από το Υπουργείο Παιδείας και Πολιτισμού.  Συμμετέχει  στην εκτελεστική επιτροπή (Executive Committee) του History Educators International Research Network (HEIRNET) καθώς και στην επιστημονική επιτροπή του περιοδικού Clio: History and History Teaching. Είναι επίσης συντονιστής της Ομάδας Ειδικού Ενδιαφέροντος για την Ιστορική Παιδεία της Παιδαγωγικής Εταιρείας Κύπρου. 

Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα περιλαμβάνουν τις ιδέες παιδιών και εκπαιδευτικών για την έννοια της ιστορικής ενσυναίσθησης (historical empathy), την ανάπτυξη συνοπτικών πλαισίων (synoptic frameworks) για την οργάνωση της γνώσης περιεχομένου στην Ιστορία, τις πολιτικές και κοινωνικές διαστάσεις της Ιστορικής Παιδείας, τη διαχείριση συγκρουσιακών θεμάτων στη διδασκαλία της Ιστορίας, τη σχέση των σύγχρονων τεχνολογιών με την Ιστορία και τη διδασκαλία της, το ρόλο διαφόρων ειδών τέχνης και τεχνολογιών ψυχαγωγίας στην Ιστορική Παιδεία και τη φιλοσοφία της Ιστορίας.

Profile Information

Lukas Perikleous is a primary teacher and a part-time teaching fellow for history education at the Department of Education, University of Cyprus. He holds a BEd in Primary Education (University of Cyprus) and an MA in History Education (University of London). He is currently reading for this PhD in History Education at the UCL Institute of Education, University College London. In the past he worked for the Cyprus Educational Mission of Great Britain, the Department of Curricula, Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture and for the Department of Education, University of Cyprus as a full time teaching fellow. He also taught History Education at the European University Cyprus. He was the scientific collaborator for History Education for the development of History Curricula in primary and secondary education.  He also acted as an advisor for teachers’ training and the design and evaluation of educational material developed by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Cyprus.  He is a member of the Executive Committee of the History Educators International Research Network and the scientific committee of Clio: History and History Teaching journal. He is also the coordinator for the History Education SIG of the Cyprus Pedagogical Association. 

His research interests include children and adult’s ideas of historical empathy, the development of historical frameworks to organize substantive knowledge, the political and social aspects of history education, the teaching of controversial and sensitive issues in history, the interaction between contemporary technologies and history and its teaching, the role of different forms of art and technologies of entertainment in history education and the philosophy of history.
