Ο Πάνος Παπαναστασίου είναι Καθηγητής (Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής, 6/2002 -11/2006) στο Tμήμα Πολιτικών Μηχανικών και Μηχανικών Περιβάλλοντος του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου. Διετέλεσε ιδρυτικός Πρόεδρος (6/2002-12/2008) στο Τμήμα Πολιτικών Μηχανικών και Μηχανικών Περιβάλλοντος και Προεδρεύων στο Πρόγραμμα Αρχιτεκτονικής (9/2004 - 9/2006). Στη συνέχεια υπηρέτησε ως Κοσμήτορας της Πολυτεχνικής Σχολής από το 1/2009-12/2014. Είναι επίσης ο ιδρυτικός διευθυντής του μεταπτυχιακού Προγράμματος Μηχανικής Πετρελαίων (9/2013-σήμερα). Από το 1991 μέχρι το 2002 εργάστηκε ως ερευνητικός επιστήμονας και διευθύνων ερευνητικός επιστήμονας στο Schlumberger Cambridge Research,  Αγγλίας. Εργάστηκε επίσης ως Σύμβουλος της Schlumberger Αγγλίας και Ρωσίας το 2002-2007. Από το 2011-2017 ήταν Σύμβουλος των Κυβερνήσεων της Κύπρου για θέματα έρευνας, ανάπτυξης και εκμετάλλευσης υδρογονανθράκων. Αποφοίτησε το 1984 από τη Σχολή Πολιτικών Μηχανικών του Εθνικού Μετσόβιου Πολυτεχνείου και έκανε μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Μινεσότα στις ΗΠΑ όπου πήρε μεταπτυχιακό δίπλωμα (M.Sc) το 1986 και διδακτορικό δίπλωμα (Ph.D) το 1990 από το τμήμα Πολιτικών Μηχανικών.  Έχει δημοσιεύσει περί τα 60 άρθρα σε επιστημονικά περιοδικά, πέρα των 80 άρθρων σε πρακτικά συνεδρίων και κεφάλαια βιβλίων, διοργάνωσε 5 διεθνή συνέδρια και επιμελήθηκε την έκδοση 6 βιβλίων και πρακτικών συνεδρίων. Είναι επίσης κάτοχος 3 ευρεσιτεχνιών σε θέματα ευστάθειας γεωτρήσεων και άντλησης πετρελαίων. Μεταξύ άλλων, είναι σύμβουλος έκδοσης των επιστημονικών περιοδικών International Journal of Geomechanics (ASCE), Petroleum Science (Springer Open), Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (Springer)

 

α) εφαρμοσμένη και υπολογιστική μηχανική για Θεωρίες πλαστικότητας με μικροδομή και θραυστική μηχανική, συζευγμένη ανάλυση τάσεων-ροής σε πορώδη μέσα,  πεπερασμένα στοιχεία με εφαρμογές στη Μηχανική Πετρελαίων και ιδιαίτερα στη ευστάθεια γεωτρήσεων, στην πρόβλεψη και αποφυγή συμπαραγωγής άμμου, τεχνική της υδραυλικής θραύσης, γεωμηχανική ταμιευτήρων και αποθήκευση CO2 σε γεωλογικούς σχηματισμούς και
β) διαχείριση υδρογονανθράκων στην έρευνα και παραγωγή, οργάνωση δομών, νομοθεσία και κανονισμοί, συστήματα καταμερισμού παραγωγής και εσόδων, εκμετάλλευση φυσικού αερίου και μελλοντικές προβλέψεις αναγκών και παραγωγής ενέργειας.

Profile Information

Panos Papanastasiou is Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Cyprus. Ηe served as the founding Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering from 2002-2008 and the founding director of the Program of Architecture from 2004-2006. He served also as Dean of the Engineering School from 2009-2014. He is also the founding director of the Program Master in Petroleum Engineering. He received his first degree in Civil Engineering from the NTU of Athens in 1984 and his M.Sc in 1986 and Ph.D in 1990 in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He worked more than 15 years in the Oil & Gas industry in the Research Center of Schlumberger in Cambridge, England from 1991 to 2002 and as consultant to Schlumberger in U.K. and Russia from 2002-2007. From 2011-2017 was Advisor to the Government of Cyprus on Hydrocarbon exploration and development and gas monetization options. He has published near 60 articles in scientific journals, more than 80 articles in conference proceedings and book chapters, he organized 5 international conferences and edited 6 conference proceedings and books. He invented 3 patents and wrote more than 50 industrial reports in the field of Petroleum Engineering. He is editorial advisor for the International Journal of Geomechanics (ASCE), Petroleum Science (Springer Open) and Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (Springer).
