Ο Δρ. Θεοχάρης Θεοχαρίδης είναι Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής στο τμήμα ΗΜΜΥ του Πανεπιστημίου Κύ-πρου. Είναι κάτοχος διπλώματος Μηχανικού Υπολογιστών από το Pennsylvania State University το 2002, και του Διδακτορικού διπλώματος στην Πληροφορική και Μηχανική Υπολογιστών το 2005, από το ίδιο πανεπιστήμιο. Διαθέτει μεγάλη εμπειρία σε αρκετά σημαντικές ερευνητικές περιοχές όπως είναι αυτές των Ενσωματωμένων Συστημάτων, Συστημάτων σε Ολοκληρωμένα Κυκλώματα,Aξιοπιστίας Συστημάτων και Συστημάτων χαμηλής κατανάλωσης ενέργειας Τα συγκεκριμένα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζονται σε ειδικές εφαρμογές υπολογιστών με έμφαση στην έξυπνη διεπαφή ανθρώπου και υπολογιστή, καθώς και στην αναδυώμενη περιοχή του ανελισσόμενου υλικού υπολογιστών και ενσωματωμένων συστημάτων (evolvable hardware). Είναι ΔΕΠ του Τμήματος ΗΜΜΥ από το 2005, και διευθύνει το Εργαστήριο Επεξεργαστών Ειδικών Εφαρμογών και Συστημάτων σε Ολοκληρωμένα Κυκλώματα. Τα αποτελέσματα της έρευνάς του έχουν δημοσιευθεί σε πολλά έγκριτα διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά και συνέδρια. Είναι Senior Member του Ινστιτούτου Ηλεκτρολόγων Μηχανικών και Μηχανικών Ηλεκτρονικής (IEEE), μέλος του Association of Computer Machinery (ACM), τεχνικός επιμελητής (Associate Editor) στο Περιοδικό IEEE Consumer Electronics, και μέλος στην εκδοτική επιτροπή (editorial board) των έγκριτων περιοδικών IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine, IEEE Design & Test και ACM Journal on Emerging Technologies in Computing Systems. Επιπρόσθετα, είναι μέλος σε τεχνικές επιτροπές διακεκριμένων διεθνών συνεδρίων στον τομέα της σχεδίασης υλικού υπολογιστών και ρομποτικής.

Profile Information

Theocharis (Theo) Theocharides is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at the University of Cyprus. Theocharis received his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Penn State University, working in the areas of low-power computer architectures and reliable system design. Theocharis was honored with the Robert M. Owens Memorial Scholarship in May 2005. He has been with the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at the University of Cyprus since 2005, where he directs the Embedded and Application-Specific Systems-on-Chip Laboratory. His current research focuses on the development of low-power and reliable on-chip application-specific architectures, low-power VLSI design, embedded systems design and exploration of energy-reliability trade-offs for Systems on Chip and Embedded Systems. His focus lies on acceleration of computer vision, bioinformatics and artificial intelligence algorithms in hardware, and in utilizing reconfigurable hardware towards self-aware, evolvable computing systems. His research interests span accross the emerging areas of evolvable hardware design, domain specific computing, and perceptual computing. He serves on several organizing and technical program committees of various conferences, is a Senior Member of the IEEE, a member of the ACM, and an Associate Editor for IEEE Consumer Electronics magazine. He also serves on the Editorial Boards of IEEE Design & Test magazine, and ACM Transactions on Embedded Computing Systems.
