Ο Νικόλαος (Κλάους) Γ. Ρέμπχολτς είναι Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής του Τμήματος Μηχανικών Μηχανολογίας και Κατασκευαστικής στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου και ηγείται της ομάδας του Advanced Coatings Engineering (ACE). Έχει πτυχίο Μηχανικού Υλικών και Επιφανειών από το Πανεπιστήμιο Εφαρμοσμένων Επιστημών στο Furtwangen της Γερμανίας (1993), πτυχίο Μάστερ (1995) και Διδακτορικό(2000) από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Hull του Ηνωμένου Βασίλειου. Εργάστηκε σαν Εκπαιδευόμενος Εκτελεστικής Διαχείρισης Έρευνας και Ανάπτυξης στο πεδίο των Προχωρημένων Υλικών και Τεχνολογίας Επιφανειών στην εταιρία Robert Bosch Group σε ερευνητικά κέντρα στη Γερμανία, Ιαπωνία και τις ΗΠΑ (1998-2001). Ίδρυσε και διεύθυνε το διεπιστημονικό Κέντρο Έρευνας και Οφέλους στον τομέα της Επεξεργασίας Υλικών με λέιζερ στη Στουτγάρδη/Γερμανία (2001-2004). Κατά τη θητεία του στην εταιρία Robert Bosch Group διεξήγαγε και διαχειρίστηκε ερευνητικά έργα στην τεχνολογία υλικών/επιφανειών και επεξεργασία υλικών με λέιζερ, εστιάζοντας όχι μόνο σε βασική έρευνα αλλά και σε ανάπτυξη προϊόντων, ειδικευμένων σε εφαρμογές, σε συμβουλευτικές υπηρεσίες, και υποστήριξη ανάπτυξης προϊόντων και κατασκευαστικής σε μονάδες και εργοστάσια παγκοσμίως.
Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα, επικεντρώνονται στα Υλικά και στη Μηχανική Επιφανειών, στα Νανοδομημένα Υλικά, στις Τεχνικές Κατασκευής και Διεργασιών, στις Κατασκευαστικές Διεργασίες εν θερμώ, στις Μεθόδους Ενώσεων και στις Κατασκευαστικές Διεργασίες Υλικών με λέιζερ. Έχει διεθνή εμπειρία μέσω συνεργασιών με πανεπιστήμια και ερευνητικά ινστιτούτα σε Ευρώπη και Αμερική. Είναι Επισκέπτης Συντάκτης για το Thin Solid Films και Surface and Coatings Technology και έχει συγγράψει πάνω από 50 επιστημονικά άρθρα. Είναι συντονιστής έρευνας του παγκοσμίου φήμης και κύρους για την αριστεία του Marie Curie Excellence Team Award από την ΕΕ (NanoΗeaters, 2006-2009). Από το 2005 έχει διαχειριστεί ερευνητικά προγράμματα συνολικής χρηματοδότησης άνω των 2,5 εκ. ευρώ, υποστηριζόμενα από την ΕΕ, το ΙΠΕ, τη Robert Bosch, κ.ά.

Profile Information

Claus Rebholz is Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Cyprus (UCY) and heads the Advanced Coatings Engineering (ACE) Group. He holds his Diploma in Materials and Surface Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences in Furtwangen/Germany (1993), his M.Sc. (1995) and his Ph.D. from the University of Hull/UK (2000). Prior to his appointment at UCY (Nov. 2004) he worked as a Research & Development Executive Management Trainee in the field of Advanced Materials and Surface Engineering at the Robert Bosch Group in several research centres in Germany, Japan and the US (1998-2001), before establishing and leading a multidisciplinary Profit Centre in the area of Laser Materials Processing in Stuttgart/Germany (2001-2004). During his time at Robert Bosch he carried out and managed research projects in materials/surface engineering and laser materials processing, focusing not only on basic research but also on application-specific process development, consulting and support of product development and manufacturing within the divisions and plants world-wide.
His research interests and contributions are in Materials and Surface Engineering, Nanostructured Materials, Manufacturing Techniques/Processes, Thermal Manufacturing, Joining Processes and Laser Materials Processing. He has extensive international experience through research collaborations with universities and research institutes in Europe and the US, is a Guest Editor for Thin Solid Films and Surface and Coatings Technology and the author of over 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He is the recipient of a Marie Curie Excellence Team Award by the European Commission (NanoHeaters, 2006-2009), as well as grants totalling over 2.5 million Euros by EC, RPF, Bosch, etc. since 2005.
