Κατέχει Πτυχίο στα Οικονομικά (1980) και Μαστερ στη Οικονομική Στατιστική και Οικονομετρία (1982) από το Οικονομικό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών και Διδακτορικό στα Οικονομικά (1987) από το Πολιτειακό Πανεπιστήμιο της Νέας Υόρκης στο Μπάφαλο. Εργάστηκε ως Βοηθός Καθηγητής (1987-93) και Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής (1993-95) στα οικονομικά στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Κονέκτικατ, ΗΠΑ. Στη περίοδο 1993-99 ήταν Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής στο Τμήμα Οικονομικών του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου και από το 1999 μέχρι σήμερα είναι Καθηγητής. Διετέλεσε Πρόεδρος του Τμήματος Οικονομικών από το 1997-2002 και από το 2006 μέχρι 2012, μέλος της Συγκλήτου του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου από το 1997-2002 και από το 2007 μέχρι 2011. Είναι Συν-Εκδότης του επιστημονικού περιοδικού Ekonomia και μέλος του Εκδοτικού Συμβουλίου του περιοδικού Review of Development Economics. Είναι Ερευνητικός Συνεργάτης στο Center of Economic Studies and ifo Institute of Economic Research (CESifo) της Γερμανίας. Είναι μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου του Ιδρύματος Κρατικών Υποτροφιών Κύπρου.

Profile Information

He holds a BA in Economics (1980) and a MA in Economic Statistics and Econometrics (1982) from the Athens University of Economics and Business and a PhD in Economics (1987) from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has worked as Assistant Professor of Economics (1987-93) and Associate Professor of Economics (1993-95) at the University of Connecticut. From 1993-99 he is at the University of Cyprus as Associate Professor and from 1999-present is a Professor. He served as a Chairman at the Department of Economics from 1997-2002 and from 2006-2012, member of the University Senate from 1997-2002 and from 2007-2011. He is a Co-Editor of the Ekonomia and Member of the Editorial Council of the Review of Development Economics. He is a Research Associate of the Center of Economic Studies & Ifo Institute for Economic Research (CESifo), Germany. He is a member of the Council of Cyprus State Scholarship Foundation.
