Βασικές σπουδές Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου (Πτυχίο Επιστημών της Αγωγής, 1996). Μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στην Εφαρμοσμένη Γλωσσολογία στη Διδακτική της Γλώσσας (MA, University of Southampton 1997). Διδακτορικό στη Γλώσσα και Εκπαίδευση, με τίτλο «This ain’t my real language miss: On language and ethnic identity among Greek Cypriot students” (PhD, University of Southampton, 2003).Εργάστηκε στο Κέντρο Έρευνας στην Εφαρμοσμένη Γλωσσολογία (CARL)του Πανεπιστημίου του Southampton ως μεταδιδακτορική ερευνήτρια (2005-2008) και ως συντονίστρια ερευνητικού προγράμματος του ευρωπαϊκού δικτύου LINEE (Languages in a Network of Excellency, 7th European Framework, www.linee.info).
Διδακτική της γλώσσας, κοινωνιογλωσσολογία,  γλωσσική ποικιλότητα, κοινωνική θεωρία της γλώσσας και της διδακτικής της,  διδασκαλία της ελληνικής ως δεύτερης γλώσσας, σχέση γλώσσας και ταυτότητας, πολυγλωσσία και εκπαίδευση.

Basic studies at the University of Cyprus, Department of Education (BA in Educational Studies, Primary Education, 1996). MA in Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching at the University of Southampton (1997) and PhD in Language and Education, University of Southampton (2003). Research fellow at the University of Southampton (2005-2008, Department of Modern Languages and Centre for Applied Language Research). Work package leader in the 7th European Framework Network of Excellence for Languages (LINEE, www.linee.info), led projects on multilingualism and education and pedagogic cultures in language teaching.
Sociolinguistics: language variation, language interaction, discourse studies, language and identity
Language/Literacy education: genre-based literacy programmes, critical literacy, language policy, teaching Greek as L1 and L2, multilingualism and  education.
