Είναι Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια στο Τμήμα Οικονομικών του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου και υπήρξε Επίκουρη Καθηγήτρια και Λέκτορας στο ίδιο Τμήμα. Κατέχει Πτυχίο Οικονομικών στα Οικονομικά και στην Διοίκηση Επιχειρήσεων (1986), Μάστερ στα Οικονομικά (1989) και Διδακτορικό στα Οικονομικά (1990) από το Clark University, Massachusetts, USA. Υπήρξε Διευθύνων-Εκδότης του επιστημονικού περιοδικού Ekonomia.

H έρευνα της επικεντρώνεται στην ανάλυση των οικονομικών επιπτώσεων της κρατικής πολιτικής στη συμπεριφορά και ευημερία του ατόμου και νοικοκυριού. Έχει εργαστεί σε θέματα που αφορούν την μέτρηση του μεγέθους της φοροδιαφυγής με βάση την καταναλωτική συμπεριφορά, τις επιπτώσεις της φορολογικής, επιδοματικής και άλλης κρατικής πολιτικής στην κατανάλωση, προσφορά εργασίας και ευημερία των παιδιών και υπολοίπων μελών της οικογένειας, τις διανεμητικές επιπτώσεις αλλαγών στις τιμές των αγαθών, την μέτρηση του ποσοστού φτώχειας ανάμεσα στις ευάλωτες ομάδες του πληθυσμού και την κατασκευή ακριβή δεικτών ευημερίας του καταναλωτή.

Profile Information

She has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics of the University of Cyprus since December 2004. Previously she was an Assistant Professor and Lecturer in the same Department. She did her undergraduate and graduate studies at Clark University, Massachusetts USA (BA in Economics and Business Administration, 1986; MA in Economics, 1989; Ph.D. in Economics 1990). She has been Managing Editor of Ekonomia, the journal of the Cyprus Economic Society.

Currently her research focuses on the impact of tax and benefit and other policies on individual and household behaviour and welfare. She has worked on issues that relate to the measurement of the black economy based on household expenditure, the effects of income tax and benefit policy on consumption, labour supply and welfare, the distributional effects of changes in consumer prices, the measurement of the poverty rate and construction of exact consumer welfare indices.
